ScreenScene Privacy Policy
Effective October 12, 2026 · Hipposcape LLC
Data stays in your chosen folder
ScreenScene reads image files from the screenshot folder you select and displays them on your Mac. Imported images are copied into that folder. Your screenshots and card history remain in your chosen folder. ScreenScene stores its folder permission bookmark and a random installation identifier in its own macOS preferences so it can reopen your folder and keep each Mac’s settings separate.
Hipposcape does not receive your screenshots, filenames, card history, installation identifier, or app settings. ScreenScene includes no analytics, advertising, tracking, or account system. The app makes no network requests.
Folder access and screenshot setup
You grant access to a folder through the macOS folder chooser. ScreenScene watches that folder for new image files. It does not record your screen or change macOS screenshot preferences itself. You select the screenshot destination through the macOS Screenshot toolbar.
Your sharing choices
When you drag a screenshot into another app or copy it to the clipboard, you choose where the image goes. The receiving app handles the image under its own practices. If you choose a folder synced by Dropbox, iCloud Drive, or another service, that service may sync the files under your settings and its own privacy policy. ScreenScene does not send them to that service itself.
Keeping and deleting files
Clearing a card from a scene does not delete its image file. You control retention and deletion of screenshots through your chosen folder and Finder. Settings and card history are stored alongside the app’s data. Removing the app does not automatically delete screenshots in a folder you selected.
Support
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include and use it to respond to your request. Please omit private screenshots and information you do not want to share.
Apple and other services
Apple distributes ScreenScene through the Mac App Store and may handle store, payment, and diagnostic information according to its own policies and your settings. Other apps, cloud folder providers, and email services also operate under their own policies.
Changes and contact
We will update this page and its effective date if ScreenScene’s privacy practices change. For questions, email david@hipposcape.com.
